Robert Clayton Powell Killed in Truck Accident in Wichita County, TX

Wichita County, TX — May 18, 2023, Robert Clayton Powell was fatally injured due to a commercial truck accident at around 9:20 p.m. on U.S. 287.

According to initial details about the crash, it happened in the area of Harmony Road outside of Iowa Park. Authorities reported that the roads were wet at the time due to rainy weather.

In those rainy conditions, it appears that 32-year-old Robert Powell was in a pickup truck that became disabled along northbound lanes of the highway. A semi-trailer was apparently going the same direction along the left lane of travel on U.S. 287. For reasons not yet confirmed, the truck did not avoid Powell's vehicle, resulting in a collision.

This resulted in Powell sustaining ultimately fatal injuries. Current reports do not show any others being injured. There is also currently no further information regarding what factors contributed to the crash. Investigations are ongoing at this time.
