Guadalupe Martinez Killed, Raquel Gutierrez Martinez Injured in Truck Accident on Hwy. 80 in Caldwell County, TX

Caldwell County, TX — April 27, 2023, Guadalupe Martinez was killed, and Raquel Gutierrez Martinez was injured in a truck accident around 3:21 p.m. on Hwy. 80 in Caldwell County.

According to officials, the victims were in a Chevy Silverado heading west on Highway 130 off-ramp while a Kenworth semi-truck was southbound on Highway 80. The two vehicles reportedly collided in the intersection.

Officials say the nose of the Kenworth struck the front passenger side door of the Silverado. The collision purportedly forced both vehicles out of the intersection to the southwest corner.

Both of the Silverado's occupants were taken to a hospital for medical treatment, but Guadalupe Martinez later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have not released the cause of the crash at this time.
