14-year-old Injured in Party Bus Accident on Cross Island Parkway in Queens, NY

Queens, NY — May 17, 2023, a 14-year-old girl was injured due to a party bus accident that happened early Wednesday morning along Cross Island Parkway.

In current reports, authorities say the incident happened near the Cross Island Parkway and Hempstead Avenue in the Queens Village.

According to officials, a 14-year-old girl was on a party bus att the time that was traveling on the parkway. At some point, it appears the girl fell through an emergency exit, allegedly because the "latches failed." The girl sustained a serious head injury and is said to be in critical condition. At least twelve other teenagers were said to be on the bus, but none of them reportedly fell or were injured.

Details say that the bus driver kept driving after the girl fell, apparently unaware that the incident happened. After an unspecified amount of time, the driver returned to the area. Right now, authorities have not reported any charges. However, they do claim they found equipment violations on the bus, and there is also talk that alcohol may have played a role in the incident. None of this has been confirmed right now, however, and investigations are still ongoing.
