Ryan Purkey Killed in Truck Accident on I-40 in Jefferson County, TN

Jefferson County, TN — May 11, 2023, Ryan Purkey was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer around 8 p.m. on I-40 in Jefferson County.

According to authorities, the victim's vehicle and the semi-truck were both eastbound when Mr. Purkey's vehicle allegedly rear-ended the semi-truck. The crash reportedly occurred in between Exit 407 and U.S. Route 25 in an active construction zone.

Ryan Purkey suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the accident scene. The truck driver was reportedly uninjured.

Investigators have not released what factors led up to the accident.
