Shane Pena-Tarango Killed in Truck Accident in Ector County, TX

Ector County, TX — May 14, 2023, Shane Pena-Tarango was killed following a semi-truck accident at 11:01 p.m. along Highway 158.

Preliminary details about the crash were provided by Texas Department of Public Safety officials. Their statements say the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 158 and F.M. 1936.

According to investigators, 34-year-old Shane Pena-Tarango was in a vehicle traveling northbound along Farm-to-Market 1936. While crossing through the Highway 158 intersection, Pena-Tarango's vehicle and a westbound tractor-trailer crossed paths. The two vehicles then collided with each other.

Pena-Tarango was ejected as a result of the collision. The injuries Pena-Tarango sustained in the wreck ultimately proved fatal. Current reports do not mention anyone else being injured. At this time, the factors leading up to the collision are still under investigation and cannot be confirmed.
