Randy Scott, Jill Scott, Judy Cook Killed in Dump Truck Accident on County Road 675 in Parrish, FL

UPDATE (May 18, 2023): Local outlets identified the victims killed in the truck wreck. They were Randy Scott, Jill Scott, and Judy Cook. Currently, the circumstances surrounding the cause of the crash are still under investigation.

Manatee County, FL — May 15, 2023, three people were killed following a dump truck accident Monday afternoon along County Road 675.

According to initial details provided by the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash took place at County Road 675/Rutland Road and Jim Davis Road.

It appears that three people were in an SUV that was going eastbound along Rutland Road. The occupants were identified only as a 1-year-old man and two women, said to be 71 years old and 80 years old. A dump truck was going westbound along Rutland. Right now, details suggest that the dump truck somehow drifted off the right side of the road while rounding a curve. It then reportedly over-corrected to the left, causing the truck to go left of center and crash into the eastbound SUV.

As a result of the collision, the three SUV occupants all succumbed to fatal injuries. The driver of the truck, said to be a 59-year-old man, sustained unspecified injuries. Right now, it's unclear what exactly led to the crash. It's also unclear if any charges or citations are being considered. Investigations are ongoing.
