One Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-95 in Nash County, NC

Nash County, NC — May 14, 2023, one person sustained fatal injuries as the result of an 18-wheeler accident at around 2:30 p.m. along I-95.

Details currently available indicate that the crash happened near the I-95 and Highway 59 intersection, west of Sharpsburg. Right now, details are limited and still under investigation.

One Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-95 in Nash County, NC

According to officials, an 18-wheeler and a car were traveling along the interstate. The 18-wheeler was apparently in the right lane while the car was in the left lane. It appears the 18-wheeler went into the left lane for unknown reasons, and the vehicles collided. This then caused the vehicles to run off-road and crash. One of the vehicles caught fire after the crash, ultimately engulfing both vehicles.

While the driver of the car apparently had a broken ankle and was taken from the scene, the driver of the 18-wheeler succumbed to fatal injuries. Neither victim has been identified at this time. Authorities continue to investigate the factors leading up to the crash.
