Eugene Schroeder Killed in Alleged Hit-and-Run Truck Accident in Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn, NY — March 9, 2023, Eugene Schroeder was killed in an alleged hit-and-run truck accident around 11:32 p.m. on Johnson Ave. in Brooklyn.

Authorities report Mr. Schroeder was southbound on Morgan Ave. in a designated bike lane approaching the intersection with Johnson Ave. when a vehicle purportedly attempted a right-hand turn from Morgan Ave. onto westbound Johnson Ave. and struck the pedestrian. The collision reportedly ejected the victim from the bicycle into the roadway and the vehicle fled the accident scene.

Eugene Schroeder suffered serious injuries that he later succumbed to at the hospital.

Officials have not confirmed the type of vehicle that struck the bicyclist; it is believed to be a large truck.
