Bicyclist Killed in Truck Accident on Lamar Boulevard in Austin, TX

Austin, TX — April 18, 2023, one person was fatally injured due to an accident between a truck and a bicycle at around 8:17 a.m. on Lamar Boulevard.

Preliminary details about the deadly collision were released by officials. Their current information indicates the accident happened just off the corner of the Lamar Boulevard and West 11th Street intersection.

According to investigators, a 56-year-old man was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk along the northbound side of Lamar Boulevard. It appears the bicycle may have lost control, causing the rider to fall into the area of the road just as a truck pulling a trailer was passing. The trailer struck the cyclist as a result.

The rider, unidentified at this time, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. No one else was hurt, according to authorities. The truck driver reportedly stayed at the scene of the accident. No charges or citations were reported. Additional details surrounding the accident remain unconfirmed at this time.
