California Man Injured in Truck Accident on I-70 in Vail, CO

Vail, CO — May 10, 2023, a California man was injured due to a dual semi-truck accident at around 6:00 p.m. along I-70.

Authorities with the Vail Police Department said the fiery crash took place along eastbound lanes of Interstate 70.

It appears there was traffic at the time, and a semi-truck was approaching that traffic. That truck somehow crashed into the back of another semi which authorities say was stopped in the line of traffic. This collision resulted in the first truck catching fire.

As a result of the collision, a California man in the first truck was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Right now, the severity of the injuries has not been clarified. It's unclear currently if anyone else was hurt due to the crash.

Authorities did not report any charges or citations resulting from their investigations. They continue to investigate the factors that led up to the collision. Further statements are pending those investigations.
