Student Injured in Accident Falling Through Bus Door in Sullivan County, TN

Sullivan County, TN — May 10, 2023, a student sustained injuries due to a school bus accident which happened along Hickory Tree Road.

Investigators with Sullivan County Schools as well as state officials reported that the incident involved a 12-year-old student.

The child was on a school bus traveling along Hickory Tree Road at the time. It appears the student was near the driver of the bus when the student somehow lost balance. Details indicate the child fell against the bus doors, and the doors came open. This caused the child to fall out of the bus.

It appears in reports that the student was taken to a hospital via helicopter, however current reports indicate that the student did not have serious injuries. No others were hurt in the incident. Authorities currently do not report any kind of defect found with the school bus. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
