Infant Killed in Truck Accident on I-75 in Broward County, FL

Broward County, FL— May 11, 2023, an infant was fatally injured following a commercial truck accident at around 4:30 p.m. along I-75.

Investigators said that the incident took place along northbound lanes of the interstate in the area of Sheridan Street and Griffin Road.

According to officials, a 35-year-old Sunrise woman was in an SUV going along northbound I-75. For reasons unclear, authorities say the SUV stopped along the interstate. While the SUV was in the roadway, an apparent work truck slammed into the back of the SUV.

This collision resulted in an infant in the woman's SUV sustained injuries which ultimately proved fatal. It's unclear at this time if there were other injuries. Victims have not otherwise been identified. Right now, authorities do not say if they plan to file charges or citations. They have not yet confirmed all of the factors leading up to the fatal crash.
