Karla Perez-Rivera, 2 Injured in Truck Accident on Sam Houston Pkwy. in Houston, TX

Houston, TX — February 5, 2023, Karla Perez-Rivera and two others were injured due to a semi-truck accident just before 10:00 a.m. along West Sam Houston.

Authorities released preliminary details about the crash, which they say happened at approximately 9:55 a.m. at the intersection of Sam Houston Parkway and Kempwood Boulevard.

Officials indicated that 32-year-old Karla Perez-Rivera and two other adults were in a Toyota passenger car traveling eastbound along Kempwood. At the Sam Houston intersection, while going through the crossing, a northbound tractor-trailer crashed into the Toyota.

As a result of the collision, a 25-year-old woman in the Toyota had injuries described as incapacitating. The conditions of Perez-Rivera and the other Toyota passenger were not confirmed. It appears the truck driver was not injured.

It's not clear what evidence authorities are working with behind the scenes as public details at this time do not clarify the source of their findings. Right now, exact factors leading up to the collision cannot be confirmed pending additional details.
