Investigators said that 44-year-old April Jones was a passenger in a Chevy S Series that was traveling northbound along Walcott Street. At Broadway, details suggest that the pickup was turning left across southbound lanes. While it did so, a southbound 18-wheeler crashed into the right side of the pickup.

Jones sustained injuries described as incapacitating. The driver of the pickup, who wasn't publicly identified, had possible injuries. The truck driver was apparently uninjured.

Authorities initially said multiple witnesses told officers that the 18-wheeler ran a red light. However, they also say there is evidence to suggest that the 18-wheeler had a green light when the crash occurred. More information is necessary to confirm how exactly the crash happened and who had the right-of-way at the time of the collision.
