Jimmy Hayes Killed in Multi-Car Accident in Tyler, TX

75-year-old Jimmy Hayes was said to be in a Ford F-150 that was traveling along eastbound lanes of Loop 323. Approaching the intersection, investigators say that Hayes's vehicle went from a straight only lane into the left turn lane. There, the Ford crashed into a vehicle that was in a line of vehicles waiting to turn left. This caused a chain-reaction collision with the other waiting vehicles.

As a result of that collision, Hayes sustained injuries which ultimately proved to be fatal. One other person involved had injuries described as non-life-threatening, and they were taken to an area hospital. It appears no one else was hurt. Police continue to investigate the factors leading up to the crash.
