The exact cause of the crash is unclear at this time. Details suggest that a 66-year-old Santa Barbara man was in a Lexus that had been going westbound along the highway. Somehow, the Lexus and an eastbound semi-truck crossed paths, resulting in a collision. This left the Lexus blocking travel lanes while the semi was off the side of the road.

Due to the collision, the Santa Barbara man had to be flown to a hospital for treatment. The semi driver was taken to a hospital with injuries described as minor. No charges or citations have been reported at this time, and authorities continue to investigate the factors surrounding the accident.
