Initial details said that a 40-year-old Waterbury man was in a Ford Taurus on westbound I-84. The Ford was apparently in the left lane when a Dodge Ram merging from the center lane crashed into the Ford as traffic slowed. This sent the Ford into a GMC Sierra, then into the center lane where a tractor-trailer hit the Ford.

As a result of the collisions, the driver of the Ford was taken to a hospital with what reports say were serious injuries. It's unclear if anyone else was hurt in the crash. It appears the driver of the Dodge was cited following the wreck. Details about other drivers were not provided. Right now, additional details about the events surrounding the crash are unavailable.
