Alejandro Munoz Lira Jr. Killed in Work Accident in Midland, TX

Midland, TX — October 18, 2023, Alejandro Lira Jr. was killed as the result of a work accident at around 4:30 p.m. off F.M. 1787.

According to initial details provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the company subject to their investigations was reportedly Hunt Energy Services. The location was listed as "Ovintiv Davidson Fa22 Fm Road 1787."

Authorities said in their investigation summary that 50-year-old Alejandro Lira Jr. was working on the oil and gas site when a boom and bucket somehow hit Lira in the head. Due to this, Lira sustained head injuries that ultimately proved fatal. No other injuries were reported.

OSHA statements listed two alleged violations found in their investigations. Both of those alleged violations were said to be "serious" type violations. The current recommended penalty listed in the reports shows $9,844. Right now, additional details about the accident and the potential consequences resulting from the investigations are unavailable.
