Driver Killed in Tractor-trailer Accident on U.S. 17 in Chesapeake, VA

Chesapeake, VA — May 8, 2023, a driver was killed following a tractor-trailer accident at approximately 5:39 a.m. along U.S. Highway 17.

Police investigators reporting about the deadly crash indicate that it happened at the intersection of George Washington Highway South and U.S. Highway 17.

The details right now claim that a southbound tractor-trailer on the highway crashed into another vehicle at the intersection. It is unclear at this time what direction the passenger vehicle was going, and it's also unclear who had the right-of-way at the time.

Due to this collision, the driver of the passenger vehicle succumbed to fatal injuries. Reports do not currently identify that victim. No other injuries were mentioned by authorities. Currently, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
