It appears from initial reports that 38-year-old Pelatia Trujillo, 19-year-old Trystiana Trujillo, and three children were in a Ford Excursion traveling along the interstate. Due to factors which remain uncertain at this time, the vehicle apparently traveled off-road to the right. There, the vehicle hit a ditch and went into the air. This then caused the vehicle to land and overturn.

Pelatia Trujillo sustained injuries in the crash which ultimately proved to be fatal. Trystiana Trujillo and the three children were all transported from the scene with injuries. Those injuries were said to be non-life-threatening. No one else appeared to be hurt.

Authorities have not yet released any additional details about what may have caused the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
