Woman Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on Wilmington Road in Manhattan, IL

Manhattan, IL — April 27, 2023, a woman sustained fatal injuries due to a semi-truck accident that happened at around 8:00 a.m. along Wilmington Road.

Details provided by Manhattan Fire officials indicate that the incident happened at the Cedar Road intersection, between Wilmington and Peotone.

According to investigators, a 65-year-old woman was said to be in a passenger vehicle going southbound along Cedar Road. As that vehicle (a 2017 Ford hatchback) crossed through the intersection, a semi-truck traveling westbound along Wilmington Road crashed into the woman's Ford.

Due to the severity of the collision, the woman in the Ford succumbed to fatal injuries. Authorities have not publicly identified the victim at this time. The truck driver apparently refused medical treatment at the scene. Right now, factors leading up to the deadly wreck remain under investigation.
