Jordan Welch Injured in Semi-truck Accident in Waterloo, IA

Waterloo, IA — April 28, 2023, Jordan Welch was injured as the result of a semi-truck accident at around 2:15 a.m. along U.S. Highway 218.

Responders with the Iowa State Patrol and Waterloo Fire Department were called to the northbound lanes of U.S. 218 at the Broadway street overpass.

According to initial statements, 26-year-old Jordan Welch was in a Dodge Charger traveling along the highway. For reasons still under investigation, that vehicle may have been on the wrong side of the road when it ended up colliding head-on with an oncoming Freightliner Semi-truck. Due to the collision, Welch's vehicle caught fire.

A witness to the crash was able to assist Welch out of the vehicle. EMS then took from the scene, and Welch was reportedly flown to a hospital in Iowa City for treatment. No other injuries were confirmed in current reports. Right now, the circumstances leading up to the crash remain unclear.
