Hector Benitez Amadeo Killed in Car Accident on Leander Road in Georgetown, TX

UPDATE (May 19, 2023): Details from authorities identified the man killed in the accident as 58-year-old Hector Benitez Amadeo. He was reportedly the driver of a Toyota Scion which somehow lost control and crashed along Leander Road. More recent details clarify that authorities do not think any other vehicles were involved. There also were no other reported injuries. The exact cause of the crash remains unclear.

Georgetown, TX — April 26, 2023, at least one person was fatally injured as the result of a car accident which happened early Wednesday along Leander Road.

At this time, there are limited details about the fatal crash. Georgetown Police officials said that the collision occurred at approximately 4:15 a.m. in the 1900 block of Leander Road, which is said to be near South Ridge Circle west of I-35.

Right now, details about the fatal crash say only that it was a motor vehicle accident. It's not clear right now how many vehicles nor what types of vehicles were involved. It's also unclear how many people were hurt or killed, and no identities have been released. Authorities closed the roadway down until approximately 6:00 a.m. At this time, investigations into the crash are ongoing.
