One Killed, Two Injured in Truck Accident on Highway 79 in Wichita County, TX

Wichita County, TX — April 20, 2023, one person was killed and two sustained injuries following a truck accident at 6:00 p.m. on Highway 79.

Preliminary details provided by Texas Department of Public Safety officials say that the crash took place outside of Wichita Falls near the Wichita County and Clay County line.

According to current public details, a Chevy Tahoe was traveling along southbound lanes of the highway. From oncoming lanes, authorities believe a northbound pickup attempted to pass two trucks which the news indicates were both pulling horse trailers. While the pickup was passing the vehicles, it crossed paths and collided with the southbound Tahoe.

Due to this collision, the driver of the Tahoe sustained fatal injuries. Two people from the northbound pickup were taken to a hospital. Their conditions weren't specified. At this time, identities of those involved remain unreleased. Investigations into the factors surrounding the crash are still ongoing.
