Pedestrian Injured in Hit-and-run Accident on South Fort Hood Street in Killeen, TX

Killeen, TX — March 28, 2023, one person was injured following an accident where a vehicle hit them along Fort Hood Street, then left the scene.

Authorities said that the accident happened at approximately 6:46 a.m. near the intersection of South Fort Hood Street and Elms Road.

Officials said that a pedestrian was in the area of Fort Hood Street, but it's unclear exactly what they were doing at the time. While walking, a vehicle struck the man, throwing him off-road. That vehicle then left the scene.

The pedestrian went to a hospital with injuries described as serious. Police describe the runaway driver as a possibly silver pickup. It may have been modified with a lift kit and large tires. Investigations are ongoing.

Believe it or not, these details are a huge step forward for those involved here. Even a seemingly minor detail can make it to someone who will connect the dots and help identify the runaway driver. Once that happens, there can finally be answers and progress toward closure for those that driver hoped to leave picking up the pieces on their own.
