For reasons yet to be determined, the vehicle ran off-road and crashed along the railroad tracks. The vehicle then overturned. As a result of the crash, Contreras Alonso sustained fatal injuries. Authorities did not mention anyone else being involved in the crash.

Unfortunately, early morning single-vehicle wrecks like this can prove uniquely challenging. If the only person involved was the victim, and there were no witnesses, then authorities only have what they find through reconstruction to tell the family what happened.

Was there a mechanical issue? Did a tire blowout? Was some other driver involved who then left the scene? Was the roadway in poor condition or not well-lit? Was this something highly unusual and unavoidable, like a manufacturing defect? Likely or not, it's important the victim's loved ones know they're getting the full story.
