Esther Monique Danas Killed in Car Accident in Harris County, TX

Harris County, TX — April 15, 2023, Esther Danas was killed following an accident where a vehicle struck her along the East Freeway.

Authorities say they responded to the accident just after 6:00 a.m. in the area of I-10 and the Beltway. It appears that Esther Danas was in a Chevy Silverado going eastbound along the interstate. The pickup broke down, coming to a stop in a lane of travel.

Danas apparently got out of her vehicle. After this, two vehicles crashed into the pickup. Danas was hit during the collision, and she succumbed to fatal fatal injuries. It's unclear if anyone else was hurt. Details surrounding the investigation are still under investigation.

One detail I have yet to see is if the pickup had its hazards on. A pickup stopping in the middle of a highway is obviously dangerous, but there are times where this sort of collision is avoidable so long as drivers are attentive enough to see the flashing lights and move over. Could it be that the lights were off or that the vehicle was otherwise unavoidable? Or, is possible the victim did everything right and was just a victim of events beyond their control? Further investigations will no doubt help shed light on these possibilities.
