Dallas, TX — March 17, 2023, Stephan Manns and two others were injured following a two-car accident that occurred at LBJ and Central Expressway.

Authorities said they were called at around 10:12 p.m. to the eastbound lanes of the LBJ Freeway at the U.S. 75 interchange. Their statements say that 51-year-old Stephan Manns was driving a Ford Mustang along the freeway behind other vehicles. While doing so, a Mercedes-Benz SUV crashed into the back of Manns's vehicle and another in front of Manns.

Due to the collision, Manns and the SUV driver had injuries said to be non-incapacitating. A passenger in Manns's vehicle was said to have incapacitating injuries. No other injuries were confirmed. Right now, police say they're looking into whether or not the SUV driver was under the influence of alcohol.

It's possible police are only looking into alcohol since it's common late at night, especially on a Friday night. But if it does prove to be involved here, there will likely need to be thorough investigations beyond simply punishing the drunk driver. I know all too well how many crashes like this in DFW involve local alcohol providers illegally over-serving people and contributing to serious accidents, and I unfortunately know well that many of them get away with their actions because folks don't even know they, too, can face consequences. Hopefully authorities handling this situation aren't letting anything like that slip through their grasp.
