Slack was apparently ejected during the crash, and injuries ultimately proved fatal. No others were said to be injured. Right now, no further information is available.

For such a tragic event to occur so suddenly, I can't help wondering if something unusual led to this crash. I just hope authorities are considering the many possible factors that can lead to this sort of crash, many of which drivers can't always avoid. Was there a tire blowout? Road hazards? A medical emergency? Some other reckless driver that left the scene? A mechanical issue?

Too often, I see folks just assume the driver must have done something wrong. I'm not here to say that isn't what led to this crash. Rather, a proper investigation is going to treat common factors like distracted driving or speeding just as seriously as they would the more unusual examples I mentioned above. The goal going forward shouldn't be to find someone to blame; it should be to ensure the victim's loved ones are getting the answers they deserve.
