Jose Armando Tobar Killed in Roofing Accident in Ennis, TX

Ennis, TX — May 15, 2022, Jose Tobar was fatally injured due to a work accident during a roofing project along Williamsburg Drive.

Preliminary investigations about the fatal accident say that it happened at around 1:35 p.m. in the 700 block of Williamsburg Drive, which appears to be a residential area just north of Business 287/Ennis Avenue.

OSHA officials identified the victim as 63-year-old Jose Tobar. They say Tobar was working on roofing at a residence when the incident occurred. Investigators believe Tobar fell ill due to heat exhaustion. When Tobar collapsed, it caused him to fall off the roof onto the ground below. Ultimately, this all resulted in the death of Jose Tobar.

The public incident summary from OSHA shows there were four listed alleged safety violations. Two were labeled as "serious" while two were listed as "other". The recommended total penalty listed in the reports shows $9,727, but the current status of potential penalties is unclear. No further information is available at this time.
