Ezau Melendez Killed in Alleged Hit-and-Run Accident on S. Hwy. 87 in Big Spring, TX

Big Spring, TX — February 19, 2023, Ezau Melendez was killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident around 10:22 p.m. on S. Hwy. 87 in Big Spring.

Crash investigators report Ezau Melendez's motorcycle was northbound on S. Hwy. 87 when a Ford F-150 allegedly pulled out of a parking lot into the victim's path. Officials believe Mr. Melendez attempted an evasive maneuver that may have caused the motorcycle to overturn, eject the victim, and slide across the ground for several feet.

Officials report the bike stopped on its left side with its front-facing west. Ezau Melendez suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

The Ford F-150 initially fled, and authorities later found the driver.

At this time police have only released one recommended charge of failing to yield the right of way, however they may be more charges issued at a later date.
