Las Vegas, NV -- March 16, 2023, a woman was injured due to an accident where a semi-truck crashed with an SUV on I-15.

Preliminary details about the crash said that it happened at around 7:15 a.m. along the southbound lanes of the interstate near Lake Mead Boulevard.

Authorities said that a woman was in an SUV traveling southbound along I-15. While doing so, a semi-truck apparently failed to maintain its lain, and it crashed into the SUV. This caused the SUV to careen onto the median and catch fire.

Due to the crash, the woman had injuries described as moderate. No others were said to be injured. Right now, police say only that they don't suspect impairment as a factor.

Having met with countless truckers over the years, I learned long ago that the profession is made up mostly of incredibly safe, responsible, experienced drivers. They understand their vehicles are dangerous, and they handle them appropriately. However, those same drivers will attest to the fact there are many others who don't deserve to be behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle. In fact, there are even whole companies filled with these drivers who have absolutely no regard for motorists around them.

Maybe this was some unusual, unavoidable situation rather than some negligent driver not maintaining proper control of their vehicle or paying attention to their surroundings. But when I think of all of those safe truck drivers I've known, I can't imagine any of them getting into an accident like this one.
