Adrian Quintanilla Melgar Killed in Work Accident in Southlake, TX

Southlake, TX -- March 3, 2023, Adrian Quintanilla Melgar was killed after an accident which occurred while Melgar was trimming trees.

Investigators said that the incident happened at around 11:00 a.m. off the corner of West Dove Road and TX-121. It appears that 46-year-old Adrian Quintanilla Melgar was doing landscape work at the time and had a harness while doing so. It appears he somehow was electrocuted by a live power line. Due to this, Melgar sustained fatal injuries. No further information can be confirmed at this time.

With work accidents like this, I'm always worried that something important is going to slip through the cracks. Generally speaking, even if OSHA is quick to investigate an accident, they have their own priorities. They're looking for violations of state safety regulations so they can issue fines. Those goals don't always align with investigations that would prioritize getting victims and families the answers they need. Hopefully authorities here are taking this incident more seriously.
