Ozie Beason Killed in Truck Accident in Gainesville, TX

Gainesville, TX -- March 15, 2023, Ozie Beason was killed as the result of an accident where a truck hit him on the highway.

Officials said that the incident happened early Wednesday morning along northbound lanes of I-35. It appears that 38-year-old Ozie Beason was walking at the time and may have been crossing the highway. While doing so, a northbound semi-truck hit Beason, killing him. At this time, authorities have not given additional details about the accident.

My hope here is simply that authorities are taking the incident seriously. Too often over the years, I've come across deadly pedestrian accidents where even months down the line authorities didn't really have any clear answers. Regardless of what leads to a deadly incident, the victim's loved ones deserve to know they're getting the full story. I certainly wouldn't consider pedestrians the exception to that. I just hope authorities here, unlike some I've dealt with, agree with that.
