Fox Lake Woman Injured in Truck Accident on US 12 in Volo, IL

Volo, IL -- March 13, 2023, a Fox Lake woman was injured after an accident where a semi-trailer crashed into multiple vehicles on US 12.

Investigators said the incident happened at around 3:00 p.m. along Route 12 at the intersection of Molidor Road.

Officials said that vehicles were stopped at a red light when a Volvo tractor-trailer somehow crashed into them. At least one person was injured, identified as a 24-year-old Fox Lake woman. Authorities have not said what caused the crash, but there appear to be citations filed for failure to reduce speed and improper lane usage.

This obviously mirrors countless other similar incidents which are usually caused by distracted driving. I wouldn't rule out other possibilities the truck driver may not have been able to avoid, of course. And even if a mistake was made here, it's important victims and families have clear evidence to tell their side of the story.

In a situation I handled, for example, a truck driver crashed while texting and driving. But our investigations revealed he was responding to his supervisor at the time. That supervisor would call and text drivers all day, and if they didn't respond immediately they essentially risked getting fired. It was just a matter of time before that idiot boss got someone hurt or killed, which is exactly what happened.

Maybe nothing like that happened here, but one of the biggest mistakes I see people make is assuming any commercial truck wreck is open-and-shut. They rarely are, and I don't currently see why this crash would be the exception.
