Man Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on I-2 in Weslaco, TX

Weslaco, TX -- March 2, 2023, a man was injured following an accident where a semi-truck struck him along I-2.

Initial details about the collision say that it happened at around 12:30 a.m. along I-2 near mile marker 157.

Man Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on I-2 in Weslaco, TX

It appears that a 20-year-old Weslaco man was walking along the fog line just off an entrance ramp. An 18-wheeler going up that ramp apparently "did an evasive action" after seeing the pedestrian. However, the truck hit the victim, causing incapacitating injuries. No other details about the crash are available at this time.

It's not entirely clear about where exactly this pedestrian was. Details seem to suggest he was along the shoulder and not actually in the lanes of travel. But if that's true, why did the truck driver feel the need to make an evasive maneuver? Are there details that can clear up where the victim was in the road, or was this just an accident resulting from a driver over-reacting to something they thought they were going to hit? Hopefully authorities are on top of getting these answers.
