Michael Klon Thompson Injured in 18-wheeler Accident in Cisco, TX

Cisco, TX -- March 2, 2023, Michael Klon Thompson was injured after an accident where an 18-wheeler and a Jeep collided.

Investigators said that the incident happened at around 1:14 p.m. along Conrad Hilton Boulevard at the I-20 service road.

Officials said that 68-year-old Michael Klon Thompson was in a Jeep Cherokee traveling through the intersection. Doing so, an 18-wheeler apparently pulled into Thompson's path, resulting in a collision.

Due to the collision, Thompson had incapacitating injuries. Police said the truck driver was being inattentive leading up to the crash. As damning as that may sound, it's important to know exactly what happened here.

In what way was the truck driver being inattentive? Were they just in a hurry? Were they digging around in the floor board? Eating? Checking GPS? Texting? Was this a driver like a truck driver in a case I handled a while back watching pornography instead of the road (yes, that actually happened)?

When people say they want to see consequences for someone's wrongdoing, that's not a black-and-white affair. The consequences have to meet the degree of wrong those actions rose to, and that can only happen when all the facts are clear. These initial reports simply leave too much to the imagination to be helpful on their own. Hopefully authorities have already done work outside of the public eye to get evidence and ensure those involved in this crash can tell their side of the story.
