Brooklyn, NY -- March 9, 2023, Eugene Schroeder was killed after an accident where a vehicle hit him, then left the scene.

Right now, reports suggest that 56-year-old Eugene Schroeder was on a bicycle stopped on Morgan Avenue. Schroeder was apparently by a vehicle that somehow hit him as it turned onto Johnson. That vehicle, "possibly a truck," according to authorities, then left the scene.

Schroeder was killed due to the injuries he sustained. Police have not yet located a suspect. New York and its boroughs are obviously densely populated, but they're also still a community. As such, it's important to help as many members of that community as possible see these details in the hopes someone comes forward with new details. It could be a neighbor, a witness police missed, surveillance footage, or otherwise someone that knows who was involved here. In time, that's often the best way to ensure there is justice for the loved ones of hit-and-run accident victims. My hope is this situation will prove to be yet another one of those examples.
