Francisco Lopez Injured in Car Accident in Houston, TX

Houston, TX -- February 24, 2023, Francisco Lopez was injured following an accident where two vehicles crashed, possibly due to alcohol.

Investigators said that the incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Shadowdale Drive at Westview Drive.

It appears that 55-year-old Francisco Lopez was in a Chevy Trailblazer traveling westbound along Westview. From eastbound lanes, a Chevy Express van made a left turn, reportedly failing to yield and hitting Lopez's vehicle.

Lopez sustained incapacitating injuries due to the crash. The other driver was apparently uninjured. Authorities allege that driver had been drinking and may face charges. Additional details can't be confirmed at this time.

If the allegations here are true, then it's obvious someone who is intoxicated behind the wheel needs to face appropriate consequences, even if no one had been hurt here. But something else stands out to me, and I wonder if authorities know more than they've said publicly.

The van that the allegedly intoxicated driver was in is a kind often used for commercial purposes. Was that true with this van? And if so, is there some local business that has intoxicated drivers going around putting the community in danger? It's not often someone randomly decides one day to drink and drive while working. More often than not, that happens when a company ignores problems or fails to stay vigilant for them to begin with.

Again, that may not be what happened here, but that's something I've seen before in my experience that others may not have considered. It's one of the reasons that information from authorities like those here aren't always telling the whole story, and there may be more serious details that need attention.
