Driver Killed in Car Accident at Sam Houston & Bellfort in Houston, TX
Houston, TX -- March 5, 2023, one person was killed due to an accident along the Sam Houston Tollway involving multiple vehicles.
Investigators said that the incident happened at around 2:05 a.m. along the 11700 block of South Sam Houston Toll Road West, which is just off Bellfort Avenue.
Authorities say that a Toyota Rav4 somehow lost control and crashed into a barrier. This sent the vehicle across "multiple lanes" where it then crashed with a Chevy pickup. This caused the Toyota to catch fire.
The Toyota driver died as a result of the accident. It's unclear if anyone else was hurt. With the crash catching fire like this, I hope that authorities are going to have the tools to really ensure nothing important slips through the cracks.
Authorities have enough on their plates as is—especially somewhere as busy as Harris County. The more complex a crash scene is, the easier it is to miss something if special care isn't taken to investigate the crash properly. I'm sure authorities are entirely capable of doing so, but I just hope they don't lose track of priorities as they deal with all of their other responsibilities. The victim's loved ones deserve some answers.
