Mayra Santos, Alexa Martinez Santos, Kristian Rocha Killed in Car Accident in Encinal, TX
UPDATE (March 7, 2023): Further information identified the third victim in the crash as 26-year-old Kristian Rocha. The information also clarified that Rocha was the driver of the Ford while Santos and Martinez Santos were in the Kia. The factors leading up to the crash are still under investigation.
Encinal, TX -- March 4, 2023, Mayra Santos, Alexa Martinez Santos, and another person were killed after an accident where two cars crashed.
Authorities were called out to the crash scene along I-35 in La Salle County at around 6:00 a.m. It appears that Mayra Santos and Alexa Martinez Santos were in a vehicle traveling along I-35.
Right now, details say that a Ford Taurus going southbound on the interstate somehow careened across the median and crashed into a northbound Kia. Santos, Martinez Santos, and one other person died as a result of the collision. It's unclear which vehicles the victims were in.
At 6:00 a.m., a serious crash like this can happen for all kinds of reasons. Fatigue, mechanical issues, a tire blowout, a medical emergency, distracted driving, etc. Likely or not, it's important for families in these situations to know all of these possible factors are getting proper attention. That way, they can at least rest assured they're getting the full story.
My concern is that there is a serious lack of specific information about this crash. While not always a big deal (considering the only ones who need to know what happened are the authorities and the families), this can sometimes be a sign authorities aren't dedicating enough time or effort into the investigations.
