One Injured in Six Vehicle Pile-up Accident in Manitowoc County, WI

Manitowoc County, WI — February 22, 2023, one driver was injured in a six-vehicle pile-up around 6:45 p.m. on I-43 in Manitowoc County.

Authorities state four commercial vehicles and two passenger vehicles collided.

A Ford pickup truck that was pulling a trailer, was allegedly northbound on I-43 when it left the road and jack-knifed into the eastside ditch. A Freightliner semi-truck was reported as following behind the Ford when it also jackknifed, blocked the northbound lanes, and collided with a Nissan Versa. A Lamers charter bus then reportedly also collided with the Freightliner.

A FedEx box truck and a straight truck, in a reportedly unrelated crash, also collided with one another and slid into the median.

Authorities believe unsafe speed for the conditions to be a contributing factor.

The driver of the Nissan versa purportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
