Woman Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on US 82 in Bowie County, TX

Bowie County, TX -- February 16, 2023, a woman was injured due to an accident where her vehicle and an 18-wheeler crashed on US 82.

Investigators said that the incident happened at around 12:10 p.m. along US Highway 82 off the corner of FM 1398. It appears a 52-year-old woman was in a GMC Acadia traveling westbound along the highway. Police believe the woman had pulled to the right side of the road before then going left to attempt a u-turn. As she did so, a westbound 18-wheeler crashed into the side of the vehicle.

The woman was taken from the scene with incapacitating injuries. Authorities mention there is dash cam footage of the crash. That's a huge piece of evidence, but it may still only tell part of the story. I'm used to seeing odd behavior like what's described here late at night or early in the morning. But at noon? Likely or not, I can't help wondering if there was something unusual going on these reports don't mention. If authorities can answer that, they certainly haven't done so publicly at this time.
