St. Charles County, MO -- February 17, 2023, Irmgard Terran was killed after an accident where her vehicle and a truck collided.

Missouri State Highway Patrol records say the crash occurred at around 7:43 p.m. at the intersection of US Highway 61 and Dietrich Road, just outside Wentzville.

Irmgard Terran Killed in Truck Accident in St. Charles County, MO

According to officials, 74-year-old Irmgard Terran was in a GMC Terrain traveling southbound on US 61. From oncoming lanes, a Dodge Ram pulling a trailer turned to go westbound. This caused the two vehicles to collide.

Terran sustained fatal injuries in the crash. No other injuries were confirmed. While police did not comment on who had the right-of-way, images of this intersection I can find show northbound traffic would have to yield to southbound traffic to turn left onto Dietrich Road. If those images are up to date, it certainly paints a negative picture for the surviving truck driver here. Why is it they thought there was enough time to turn? Were they not paying attention to the road? Were there extenuating circumstances authorities failed to mention? If nothing else, I'm surely not alone believing that efforts must be made to ensure the victim's loved ones get some answers, and these initial reports aren't likely telling the whole story.
