Two Injured in Car Accident on Emancipation Avenue in Houston, TX

Houston, TX -- February 24, 2023, two people were injured following an accident where a pickup crashed into a parking lot off Emancipation.

Investigators said that the incident happened at around 10:17 p.m. off the corner of Emancipation Avenue and Wheeler Avenue. Police say they attempted to pull over a white pickup for speeding. The vehicle did not stop and eventually hit a convertible at the above intersection. This caused the pickup to fly off-road where it landed on several parked vehicles.

The drivers of the pickup and the convertible were said to be injured. Police did not give additional details about the factors surrounding the crash. They did apparently rule out the vehicle being stolen, though, and said that pickup driver had warrants.

The latter could explain why someone wouldn't want to make contact with police, but it's important to know for sure what happened. For all we know, it could turn out this was an alcohol-related crash (far too common down in Harris County). If nothing else, getting the victims and families some clear answers should be a priority going forward.
