UPDATE (March 30, 2023): Further information provided by authorities identified the man killed in the accident as 31-year-old Daniel Mata. One of the injured victims was identified as 26-year-old April Christine Evans. No further information is available at this time.

Travis County, TX -- February 25, 2023, one person was killed and two were injured due to an accident where cars crashed on FM 973.

Investigators said that the incident happened at around 4:00 p.m. in the area of FM 973 and Brita Olson. The cause of the crash remains unclear at this time. Details say only that two vehicles collided, resulting in one person suffering fatal injuries. Another person was flown from the scene while a third was taken to a Round Rock hospital. No further information is available at this time.

My biggest concern in these situations is simply if authorities are able to give it the attention it needs. It would surprise people to see how complex a crash between two cars can be, and lacking the training, time, or equipment to investigate the details properly means important information can slip through the cracks. As skilled as officers may be, their supervisor don't always allow them to devote time to getting answers and instead pull them to work on other priorities. For the victims and families involved in this crash, I hope the authorities in charge here are able to give the details their full attention.
