Officer Injured in Alleged DWI Accident on Wilcrest in Houston, TX

Houston, TX -- February 25, 2023, an officer was injured following an accident where an allegedly intoxicated driver hit their patrol car.

Investigators said that the collision occurred at around 11:00 p.m. off the corner of Wilcrest Drive and Briar Forest Drive. While the exact details are unclear, reports say that a driver rear-ended a Houston PD vehicle, sending an officer to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver that hit them was arrested for suspicion of DWI. No further information is available at this time.

Hopefully it's true the injuries here were only minor. Too many officers end up putting their life on the line because someone can't bother calling a cab or ride-share after a night out. If this is yet another one of those times, then the Houston/Harris County area should have no shortage of officials looking to make sure there's some accountability for this senseless, easily avoidable accident.
