Jennifer Gonzalez Killed in Car Accident in Brazoria County, TX

Brazoria County, TX -- February 26, 2023, Jennifer Elena Gonzalez was killed following an accident which allegedly involved intoxication.

Investigators said that the incident happened at around 4:30 a.m. along Highway 288 near FM 1462. It appears that 19-year-old Jennifer Gonzalez was a passenger in a Chevy pickup going southbound along the highway. That pickup somehow crashed into the back of a GMC that was parked along the shoulder.

Due to the collision, Gonzalez sustained injuries which proved fatal. The driver of the Chevy had non-life-threatening injuries. Police allege that driver was intoxicated at the time and will face a charge for intoxication assault. Additional details are unavailable at this time.

Any fatal accident is going to be heart-wrenching to read about, but seeing allegations of intoxication only makes it more senseless. I can't say any more than anyone else in the public if those allegations are true, but it's tragically common with early-morning wrecks. Whether or not it happened here, authorities should take every possible measure to get answers for this girl's family and to ensure anyone responsible for such a terrible event face the appropriate consequences.
