Five Killed in Care Flight Plane Crash in Stagecoach, NV

Stagecoach, NV -- February 24, 2023, five people were killed following an accident where a Care Flight airplane crashed.

Emergency crews were called to the site around Stagecoach, southeast of Reno, at 9:15 p.m. The airplane, a Pilatus 12, was said to have five people onboard: the pilot, two medical workers, and a patient and their wife. The plane apparently somehow broke apart in midair, authorities say. All five people on the plane lost their lives. NTSB and other agencies continue their investigations.

Typically this sort of think involves planes crashing into the ground. The plane breaking apart in midair makes me worry this will be far more complex than most plane crashes. Fortunately, the National Transportation Safety Board has just about the best of the best in terms of accident reconstructionists. I have little doubt their findings will get the victims' loved ones the answers they deserve. Unfortunately, those investigations tend to take a very long time to finish. It can sometimes take over a year. Hopefully those involved here and aren't left in the dark during a time of such hardship.
