What really made my heart sink was seeing family in the news talk about their experience with the local authorities and their apparent lack of attention on this accident. It's something I see far too often where a department essentially lets an accident slip through the cracks and leaves the family on their own to get answers themselves.

Fortunately, this family seems to be taking the best steps forward they can by spreading the word to the public through local media. That is actually one of the best ways to resolve hit-and-runs, as someone in the community is often able to connect the dots and identify the driver. Hopefully there has just been miscommunication with Lubbock PD about this man's situation, and they will taker the necessary steps to help the family. Either way, keeping these details visible will remain a prudent path forward.
